Honey is hygroscopic, meaning it draws moisture out of the environment and thus dehydrates bacteria.” This happens because honey is a saturated (or supersaturated) solution of sugars, with 84 percent of the honey being a mixture of fructose and glucose. The water content in honey is usually only 15–21 percent by weight. The strong interaction of these sugar molecules with water molecules leaves very few of the water molecules available to support the survival—let alone growth—of microorganisms.

During my childhood I saw many sadhus in my home town as it is a holy place. But I was not much familiar with their activities. In the north side of my home there are some big ashrams for sadhus. They woke up early in the morning around 4 o'clock and chant the word 'soham'. They also sang a song whose wording was some thing like that: " uth jaag mussafir bhor hua ab rein kha jo sovat hai, jo sovat hai vo khovat hai, jo jagat hai vo pavat hai ......." I also woke up early in the morning for study, so I also enjoyed this song parallel to my study.
